Have you ever bowed to pray (literally or figuratively) and not known what to say? Maybe it’s because you genuinely can’t find the words. Or maybe it’s because you’ve prayed so often with seemingly no response that you’re exhausted with the thought of forming another prayer! Or maybe you need direction but you’re at a loss to which path seems best?

There are countless times that I have closed my eyes in prayer and just said “Lord..” Honestly, I have even put off praying for a particular situation! I knew Jesus needed to intercede, but I wasn’t sure how to pray or what exactly I was seeking from Him!

The English language cannot capture the weight of human feelings and emotions. That’s why sometimes we just cry out or breathe a deep sigh of despair or confusion!

I was reading Romans 8 this morning and it seems like this is an age-old problem! We’re not alone!

Verses 26 and 27 say it this way:

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

When circumstances are too consuming, when the weight of the world sits too heavy on our shoulders, we can be comforted in the fact that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us! God knows the depths of our hearts and the burdens we carry, so we don’t have to find the perfect words to pray. We just have to seek Him and focus our eyes on Him, and know that He is ALREADY making intercession on our behalf! How good is our God!

The Lord knew I needed this today, how about you?
